VP of Preconstruction (Design-build / Data Centers)

MissionHires is partnering with a leading industrial tilt-wall contractor based in Frisco, Texas to hire a VP of Preconstruction. With 70M+ sq ft delivered over 16 years and major growth in data centers and large-scale industrial projects, this executive will lead estimating and preconstruction across design-build, negotiated, and GMP delivery. Reporting to senior leadership, the VP will drive accuracy, discipline, pricing strategy, risk assessment, talent development, and client/subcontractor relationships to support continued national expansion.

• Provide executive leadership for all preconstruction activities, ensuring consistent, high-quality deliverables across pursuits
• Oversee detailed estimates, budgets, and proposals for industrial, manufacturing, distribution, and data center projects from $10M to multi-hundred-million-dollar programs
• Establish, refine, and standardize preconstruction processes, systems, and best practices to improve accuracy, efficiency, and competitiveness
• Partner with operations, project management, and executive leadership to align preconstruction strategies with execution and growth objectives
• Lead opportunity evaluation, risk assessment, and bid strategy development for design-build, negotiated, design-assist, and GMP delivery methods
• Drive strategic pricing decisions and margin discipline in competitive markets
• Mentor, develop, and scale estimating and preconstruction teams to support future growth
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and key subcontractors to support negotiated and design-assist work
• Uphold collaborative, relationship-driven approaches that enable delivery of complex projects

• 15+ years of progressive experience in construction preconstruction and/or estimating, with significant exposure to industrial, tilt-wall, or data center projects
• Proven leadership of preconstruction efforts on large, complex projects exceeding $50M
• Strong background in design-build, negotiated, design-assist, and GMP delivery methods
• Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment
• Expertise in developing detailed estimates, budgets, proposals, and strategic bid approaches
• Exceptional communication, analytical, and executive influence skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
• Ability to partner cross-functionally with operations and project leadership and to cultivate strong client and subcontractor relationships
