Why This Role Matters

CANZA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to support the development and monitoring of metrics and actions around core CANZA projects, primarily through the National Biodigester Initiative (NBI). Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Project Manager will play a pivotal role in steering critical projects towards success. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, adept at project analytics and execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on Canada's agricultural sustainability landscape.

How You'll Contribute

Project Committee Management

  • Coordinate and support project meetings, supporting metric-based decision-making and stakeholder accountability.

  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals, managing key performance metrics, and addressing concerns.

  • Provide regular updates to committees on project progress, milestones, and challenges.

Operationalizing Strategy

  • Develop and implement strategic elements of initiatives like NBI.

  • Oversee the execution of project plans, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with CANZA's mission and values.

Resource Management

  • Manage project resources effectively, including budget, finances and intellectual resources.

  • Identify resource needs, allocate budgets, and track expenditures to ensure efficient utilization.

Government Relations, Communications, and Admin Support

  • Collaborate with CANZA's government relations and communications teams to provide metrics to support advocate for policies and regulations that support the CANZA’s objectives.

  • Work closely with the Communications Specialist to distribute messaging, outreach materials, and media strategies to raise awareness of the project impact and benefits.

  • Other duties, as assigned by CANZA senior staff. 

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success and impact of CANZA’s work.

  • Prepare regular progress reports, status updates, and presentations for internal stakeholders, funders, and partners.

Essential Qualifications

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to build actionable plans and measure outcomes.

  • Experience using project management tools and software.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with experience in delivering presentations to key stakeholders.

  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with experience working across diverse groups.

  • Understanding of budget management and resource allocation.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative while also collaborating effectively within a virtual team environment.

  • Adaptability and resilience to navigate ambiguity and overcome challenges in a dynamic work environment.

Education & Experience

  • University degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Experience in project management, preferably in the fields of sustainability, agriculture, corporate or environmental initiatives.

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and building collaborative relationships with diverse groups, including government agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and industry partners is an asset.

  • Comprehensive understanding of food systems, anaerobic digestion, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy technologies, and/or carbon reduction strategies, considered an asset.

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master's or MBA), considered an asset.
