Position Summary
The CDI Manager is responsible for identifying clinical documentation improvement opportunities related to ICD-10, UHDDS, CMS regulations, quality metrics, and reimbursement methodologies. This role provides operational oversight of concurrent query processes, drives documentation accuracy initiatives, analyzes trends, and develops strategies that improve clinical documentation integrity and organizational outcome
Key Responsibilities
• Lead daily CDI operations and concurrent query review processes
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, HIM, Coding, Quality, and Revenue Cycle teams
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities impacting reimbursement and quality outcomes
• Analyze data trends and implement sustainable workflow improvements
• Ensure compliance with ICD-10, CMS, UHDDS, and regulatory documentation standards
• Support accurate reflection of Severity of Illness (SOI), Risk of Mortality (ROM), medical necessity, quality measures, and length of stay
• Assist with staff development, training, and performance management
• Monitor and improve documentation quality related to HACs, PSIs, DRGs, and reimbursement integrity
Qualifications
Option 1:
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• 5 years of clinical nursing experience
• 3 years of CDI experience
• 2 years of CDI leadership experience
Option 2:
• International Medical Graduate (MD)
• 5 years of acute care experience
• 1 year CDI experience
• 2 years of CDI leadership experience
Option 3:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management or Health Information Technology
• 4 years of acute care coding/abstracting experience
• 2 years of CDI leadership experience
🔹 Required Certifications
Candidates must hold applicable certifications including combinations of:
• CCDS or CCDS-O
• CDIP
• CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or CPC-P
• Nevada RN license required for nursing candidates.
Preferred Expertise
• MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies
• ICD-10 coding and reimbursement regulations
• Quality metrics, core measures, and compliance standards
• Clinical data analysis and reporting
• Leadership experience in acute care CDI environments
Full Benefits
The range is $90,500 to $144,000 per year.
It’s an on-site role in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Relocation is unpaid; no assistance is provided.
You must hold certifications such as CCDS/CCDS-O or CDIP, plus one of CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or CPC-P. A Nevada RN license is required if applying via the nursing pathway.
You can qualify via RN (with Nevada license), International Medical Graduate (MD), or a Bachelor’s in HIM/HIT, each with specified experience and CDI leadership.
At least 2 years of CDI leadership experience are required.
You’ll lead daily CDI operations and concurrent query reviews, collaborate across clinical and revenue teams, analyze trends, and ensure compliance with ICD-10, CMS, and UHDDS.
